Iron is a sweet young gentle giant that was rescued in the mountains of Idaho. He'd been lingering around a campground, begging for food, and was on the verge of death. His rescuer and her friends were able to carry him out and get him to safety.

Since then, he's been packing on the pounds and recovering from his near death experience. Our guess is that he was a 'failed' livestock guardian dog, considered too social, and left to die in the mountains. That said, he's quite young (probably under a year), and once healthy, we think he'll do very well! He looks to be a Pyr mix (he has the double dew claws), but possibly a bit of Akbash as well.

He's very friendly with kiddos and just wants to snuggle. He chases cats but does them no harm. This guy doesn't seem to have a mean bone in his body. He still exhibits a few puppy behaviors like chewing on shoes, but that should pass with time.

We think he'll be a great addition to any family with breed experience (and a good fence!) - will you give him the 2nd chance he deserves?
