About Sammi-ADOPTED

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Rescue ID: 112988
  • Ear Type: Natural/Uncropped
Sammi is a mix of pure breed Border Collie on her mom's side and pure Great Pyr on her dad's. Sammi was deliberately bred this way by a breeder in Texas.

As a pup, Sammi was purchased to live on a farm in Northern California where she was supposed to guard the livestock. However, because her temperament comes from the BC side, all she wanted to do was herd them. This was unacceptable to her new owner, so we have taken her in to help find her the perfect forever home where she won't be misunderstood.

Sammi is young, around 18 months old. She has the Border Collie petite-ness, activity level and temperament and the Great Pyr coat and eyes. She was very shy, at first, but is super friendly and very submissive. She gets along great with our male dogs. She will initiate the play time and loves to run with the 'big boys' that we have here. She's just like a little sister to them. We are not certain how she is around cats, but she is very smart and easily trainable.

Sammi loves attention and being loved on. She is VERY people oriented and will need a home that can give her the attention she needs. She's just needy enough to pull your heart strings and independent enough to go her own way.

She is housebroken, can use a doggie door, and rarely barks. She knows 'sit', 'go to bed', 'off', 'leave it', and 'come'. She LOVES 'come' because it means she'll be petted and rubbed on! She even knows how to 'tell' me she needs to go out side to potty.(she'll come up to you and poke you with her nose and look towards the door) She is a VERY smart girl!!

We have been walking her with a Gentle Leader and she does really well. She knows to sit when we stop walking and she doesn't pull. My children walk her and we take her local Bark Parks, and she's a perfect lady every time. Sammi is not food aggressive and you can take anything right out of her mouth with out a struggle. Sammi is awesome around all of my children, ages 8-18, and even with the younger children she meets at parks, and around the neighborhood.

Sammi LOVES her soft bed and having rope toys and chewy things and a spot to call her own when she gets tired of socializing. She has been crate trained by her previous homes and likes having a cozy place to call her own. Here, she sleeps curled up by the back door under the cuff of the curtain's as her blanket!

Sammi's perfect forever home would be one where she could be a pampered indoor dog with a stay at home person (with or without children or other dogs) who loves to take daily walks and play fetch with a tennis ball.

Sammi is spayed, current on vaccines, heartworm negative and on preventative. Her adoption fee is $100. An application and home visit will be required before adoption can be approved.
