This neutered male Maremma/Great Pyrenees was flown to Missoula, MT from VA as a 2 year old 4 years ago.  He was said to be an experienced/trained LGD to guard his new owner's sheep and goats - it turned out he was not a LGD. Owner still kept him and he was quartered in a large horse corral with high fencing most of the time.

About 6 months ago the owner re-married and his new wife brought her cat - you can figure it out from there, RIP kitty. Owner wants to keep his new wife, dog needed to go ASAP.  Owner did have Pepe neutered and kept him until we found an appropriate foster home for him - but he was confined to a 12 x 12 kennel off by himself. He is a social kind of guy and wants to mingle with people.

He does get along well with other dogs - in fact when I stopped by to meet him, the owner's Border Collie was in Pepe's face snarling and trying to pick a fight, Pepe just ignored him.

Here is what his foster mom said about him when he had been with her just a few days:

He will need some training, but appears VERY loyal and is VERY sweet.  I think he would be good with kids as long as he doesn’t knock them down when excited.   He acts like a puppy, but is 6 years old.   His tendency is to show affection through pawing (a breed trait), but responds well when told no.   We are working on other commands. I’ve only been with him a few hours, but with some attention I think he could learn quickly.  I’m also dealing with Chazz and Trina (fyi - her two dogs) wanting to ‘help’ train. LOL.

And, I think he would respond best in a household with an owner who is Alpha.  He shows submissiveness to me and to Chazz so is lower in the pecking order (which is good, actually).
