About Us Great Pyrenees Rescue Montana is a dedicated group of passionate volunteers working to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome abused, abandoned, and displaced Great Pyrenees and Great Pyrenees mixes. Our mission is to provide these beautiful dogs with the love, care, and safety they deserve by placing them into loving companion homes or suitable working environments. While we primarily serve Montana, we also support surrounding states, stepping in to rescue dogs in need. We are committed to educating the public and breeders to prevent overbreeding and help reduce the number of dogs ending up in shelters or facing euthanasia. A significant part of our work also focuses on rescuing dogs abandoned at the end of sheep grazing seasons, when many Pyrenees are left behind as their working duties are no longer needed. Though we officially became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in June 2023, we operate under the umbrella of National Great Pyrenees Rescue, which has been a leading organization since 2006. We don’t have a central shelter. Instead, our dogs are placed in loving foster homes or, when needed, a trusted boarding facility. Each dog’s placement is carefully matched with available homes based on compatibility with other pets and the specific needs of the dog. We are grateful to partner with Old Farm Kennels in Florence, Montana, which offers a safe and nurturing environment for our dogs when a foster home is unavailable. Their staff provides the care and attention that every Great Pyrenees deserves, ensuring they are loved and protected while they await their forever home. Thank you for supporting our mission and helping us give these incredible dogs a second chance at a happy life. |
